In 1990 Leon Black founded Apollo Advisors L.P. and Lion Advisors L.P. to manage investment capital on behalf of institutional investors and focus on corporate restructuring, leveraged buyouts, and the assumption of minority positions in growth-oriented companies. Since that time, Apollo and its affiliates have managed approximately $15 billion in assets. Mr. Black also co-founded Apollo Real Estate Advisors L.P., which since 1993 has invested in more than $5 billion worth of real estate-related holdings. From 1977 to 1990 Mr. Black was employed by Drexel Burnham Lambert Incorporated, where he served as managing director, head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group, and co-head of the Corporate Finance Department. He is a director of Vail Resorts, Inc., Sequa Corporation, United Rentals, Inc., Allied Waste Industries, Inc., AMC Entertainment Inc., Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and Wyndham International, Inc. In addition, Mr. Black serves as a trustee of The Museum of Modern Art, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Prep for Prep, The Jewish Museum, Cardozo School of Law, The Asia Society, Spence School, and The Vail Valley Foundation. Mr. Black graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dartmouth College in 1973 with a major in philosophy and history and in 1975 received a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University.
